African delegations stood in solidarity

Fighting broke out between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces in the capital, Khartoum, on Saturday, April 15, 2023, Sudanese women and Sudanese civilians suffered serious violations during the ongoing war, some of which now amount to genocide, as happened in West Darfur State, El Geneina, and other crimes against humanity and war crimes in other areas such as Khartoum, the capital.

A number of Sudanese civil society and human rights organizations participated in the meetings of the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights at its 77th session held in Tanzania, Arusha, and held meetings with its African counterpart within the agenda of the African Commission.
African delegations stood in solidarity and sent letters containing and calling on the African Union, the African Peace and Security Council and the United Nations to pressure the parties to the fighting in Sudan to stop the fighting, stop targeting civilians, urge them to protect civilians and open humanitarian corridors, and they also called on the African Commission and the Human Rights Council to issue reports showing the extent of human rights violations in Sudan, and also sent messages of solidarity to the Sudanese people.
